Tried to do it with 140 characters, but really couldn’t.

Willie Mays was a GREAT defensive outfielder. Probably the best ever. One day in San Francisco I convinced him to let me try out his glove. He agreed, laughing that “he would do just about anything to help me out there”.

Bingo

I first met Ernie Banks in the summer of 1958. I was in the 10th grade. John Ogden (the scout that would sign me with the Phillies) took a group of us to Pittsburgh’s Forbes Field to see a ballgame between the Cubs and the Pirates.
