As we begin this Thanksgiving holiday week, want to give thanks for and ask that you remember our friend Ed Herrmann.
Hoggy continues to fight cancer and his family continues to comfort and love him. “Hoggy” Herrmann Update

Ten days ago we posted a special birthday story in honor of former White Sox teammate Ed “Hoggy” Herrmann. As many of you know, Ed has been battling cancer since 2009. This year, he spent his 67th birthday laying in an intensive care room and fighting off a nasty infection.

On This Day… Bunning Blanks the Mets, Again

On this day in 1966… Phillies Hall of Famer Jim Bunning continued his dominance over the New York Mets by shutting them out at Shea Stadium, 6 – 0. The Phillies offense was paced by third baseman Dick Allen, who slugged 2 home runs.
The victory marked Bunning’s 9th win over the Metropolitans since throwing his perfect game in June of 1964. It is also his 8th complete game in as many starts AND his 5th shutout against them. ...

Ed “Hoggy” Herrmann

Ed Herrmann was a great teammate and a key contributor to that memorable 1972 White Sox team. He had a solid major league career posting double digits in HRs for five straight seasons, earning a spot on the 1974 AL All Star team, throwing out 42 base runners in a single season, and catching Larry Dierker’s 1976 no-hitter while playing for Houston Astros.
