Former Phillies manager Charlie Manuel is going to be inducted in the Phillies Wall of Fame on Saturday, as part of the Phillies Alumni Weekend. Many of Charlie’s former players will take place in the ceremony, including retired ace Roy Halladay.
As a Major League Baseball manager, Charlie Manuel collected exactly 1000 wins. He joined the club in 2005, becoming the 50th manager in franchise history. During the next eight-plus years, he guided the Phillies to 780 wins, most in franchise history. Under his leadership the team won five division titles, two national league trophies, and its second world championship. Simply put, Charlie Manuel was the most successful manager in Phillies history.
It’s hard to find a former player or coach that doesn’t love Charlie. Leading up to this weekend, Comcast SportsNet has been featuring favorite Manuel memories from his former players, coaches and colleagues.
